asics TIGER — GEL ATM interactive machine
An arcade machine that takes no coins and pays out shoe-sole rubber.
asics TIGER, ASICS's streetwear label, wanted an inventive GEL ATM game machine for a trade show to get closer to its fans. We helped turn the idea into reality.
In September 2016 in Shanghai, asics TIGER showed its latest sneakers at YOHOOD at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition Center. The GEL ATM was unveiled alongside them.
The GEL ATM is a WeChat-driven game machine. Fans follow the asics TIGER official account and use the shortcut menu to get a game QR code.
Hold the code up to the GEL ATM scanner and the machine dispenses a token. Keep it as a souvenir, or use it in the neighbouring capsule machine to win a GEL ball.
The ball is not ordinary rubber: it uses the same super-elastic material as the asics TIGER sole and carries the logo, making it a genuine collector's item.
Mexxum delivered the effect asics TIGER wanted and drew a crowd.
From the concept stage, the Mexxum team helped asics TIGER plan the stand structure so that all the electromechanical equipment would fit.
During development, asics TIGER's WeChat team had full support from Mexxum engineers, keeping integration on schedule.
On site, assembly and commissioning were completed in minimal time, leaving more time to refine the display.
