HagerGroup — Shanghai headquarters showroom
Fitting a broad product range into a showroom that reveals itself step by step.
HagerGroup, the German manufacturer of high-end residential electrical products, opened its new Shanghai headquarters. They wanted the space to express intelligence and design, and Mexxum helped them get there.
In January 2017 in Shanghai, HagerGroup opened its new China headquarters. The brief was to express intelligence and design, and to highlight the technology behind its smart home offering. Hager's product range is broad, so fitting everything into the showroom was a considerable challenge.
Mexxum organised the showroom by industry and by story, so that content unfolds as visitors move through the space. Comfortable viewing distances keep the experience clear.
Everything in the showroom is controlled from an iPad: video playback, content changes, and PPT switching and paging, all while presenting. Lighting, screens and curtains are synchronised as well.
Because the showroom sits next to the main office corridor, the designers also used the outer wall of the pantry for a wide dynamic screen introducing Hager's history.
The centrepiece is the Hager key-industry solutions area, which uses an L-shaped tiled ultra-wide screen. It can split into three sections, one for each core industry's presentation, or act as a single ultra-wide display for more striking content. The photograph below shows guests touring it on opening day.
In the central area, large distribution cabinets and interactive LCD screens are staggered so that visitors can watch as they walk.
The smart home area uses layered forms to save display space while presenting the elements of a home. Concealed lighting strips keep the space needed for furniture and fittings to a minimum. When the soundtrack starts, the lighting tells the story.
Hager's best-known wiring accessory ranges are extensive, so the designers used sliding, layered display boards: minimal footprint, maximum content, and easy for the client to update.
HagerGroup's global CEO attended the ceremony and unveiled the new Shanghai headquarters. Guests were impressed by the showroom.
